West African Football chiefs meet FIFA hopefuls

West Africa’s football giants will converge in Accra tomorrow Tuesday January 12 for an extraordinary Congress to elect a President for the regional body, the West African Football Union.

Kwesi Nyantakyi who is the incumbent WAFU B president will contest Niger's Djibrilla Hima Hamidou for the 2016-2020 term.

The Movenpick Hotel in the Ghanaian Capital, Accra, will also see three FIFA Presidential candidates in attendance at the Congress to explain their plans for World Football.

As elections at the world governing body approaches, the Accra date is one sure way of amassing support across the region, which holds a key bloc in the Confederation of African Football.

Hosted by the Ghanaian Football Association President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, it would see hopefuls HRH Prince Ali Al-Hussien, Gianni Infantino and Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al-Khalifa addressing the guests.

A message from Jerome Champagne, also a contender, will be read out to attendees by a representative.

A crucial event, it plays an important role in determining (to a larger extent), who becomes the next president of the world governing football body.
